EUDR for non-EU suppliers

Non-EU producers do not automatically have direct EUDR obligations unless they place products on the EU market themselves, but EU customers may need detailed upstream evidence from them.

Do non-EU suppliers have direct EUDR obligations?

Not simply because they produce or sell a relevant commodity outside the EU. However, EU operators may require product legality, geolocation and production-origin data from non-EU suppliers so they can complete their own due diligence.

What should suppliers prepare?

  • Exact product description and CN/HS code.
  • Relevant commodity used in the product.
  • Country and location of production.
  • Plot coordinates or polygons where applicable.
  • Producer and supplier identity.
  • Production date or time range where relevant.
  • Legality and deforestation-free supporting records.
Important: manufacturing country and commodity-production country can be different. EU buyers may need the production origin of the relevant commodity, not merely the factory location.

How to make buyer requests easier

Maintain a structured evidence pack by product, supplier and batch. Keep geolocation, invoices, producer identity and legality evidence consistent so the EU buyer can trace the product back to production.
